In 2002, I was finding my way through a personal journey of healing and self-discovery while living in Los Angeles, fully dedicated to a career in the arts and my unmarried, child-less ways.

Ahh, what a decade can do!

With social activism and challenging the status-quo being two of my most natural instincts, I was destined for a life of speaking my truth. And so it followed that my truth asked me to defy my greatest fears - speaking with ease, having children, and conventional thinking.

Inspiration struck (the name, and the acronym TEACH - Transforming the Emotional Abuse of CHildren, flashed in my mind in a single moment of insight) and a mission was born. Out of love, and a passion for promoting the awareness and education of verbal and emotional abuse, I set out to change the ways in which we speak to each other .

Why?

Because growing up, I had a tough time understanding the world. The negativity, the fear, the cliques, the social rules, the blame, the criticism, the harsh words, the family-induced guilt, and the punitive, shame-based systems of discipline and education made me want to hide in a cave - forever.

I was so sensitive that I could accurately sense the thoughts and emotions of others to the point of feeling my skin sear with each glance and becoming physically ill, and yet I could not decipher their actions and intentions well enough to reciprocate and - get along.

This caused a lot of pain, misunderstandings and people to think some unthinkable things about me.

See, I was one of those kids.

You know...

the kid who doesn't seem to fit in -
who always says the wrong thing -
who has a hard time making and keeping friends -
who has trouble uttering the most basic "hello" greeting -

YOU KNOW- that kid who is difficult to discipline and hard to understand.

I was every parent's nightmare. Challenging authority was something I felt instinctively drawn to from an early age. And, not because I was a "bad kid," but because I felt misunderstood, disrespected, disconnected and demoralized, as a human, by the treatment of my elders.

Nowadays, I am a passionate advocate for the ethical treatment of children and improving adult-child communication to build long term-influence and strong relationships - the exact things I had the most trouble sorting out.

My aim is to raise the global awareness of empathy, tolerance and peaceful conflict resolution through media outreach, community building and parent-teacher education, and to empower parents, teachers and caregivers with a revolutionary view of parenting and discipline.

I hope that the information offered here will open you up to a new understanding of your role as parent, educator or caregiver and provide you with the resources to create cooperative, meaningful relationships with your children, as you give them the skills they need to communicate and relate to the world in healthy ways.

If you are looking for new ways to connect with your children, students, or anyone in your life, I invite you to take a journey with me as we shift from fear to love.

Warmly,
