One minute, there's a sunny, playful, affectionate little cub rolling around in the crib and the next thing you know... you've got a sulky lion with a loud roar on your hands. What happened? Oh your Leo baby didn't get his way.
That's sure to send him into an instantly sour mood, so be sure to teach your young cub, early, about fairness and respecting other people. They don't mean to be so domineering, they just can't help it.
There are two kinds of Leo kids: 1. Enthusiastic Extroverts 2. Timid Introverts
Enthusiastic extroverts are warm and generous, if not a bit pushy with a strong desire to explain things to people. These kids have had their emotional development supported from the start. The Timid Introverts are a result of harsh treatment and authoritative parenting. These parenting styles are best kept to a minimum with Leo children.
They need to be restrained gently otherwise they may react violently and turn into painfully shy adolescents who harbor emotional wounds they can't quite move beyond. Leo children have an innate sense of dignity and pride and they will look to you to protect it.
Leo kids can also be slightly vain with superiority complexes but they're not as brave as they pretend to be, so give them lots of physical affection, attention, cuddling and adoration.
Leo babes will rule the roost early and have a tendency to be bossy and aggressive. He just can't help but want to be the leader of the pack. Sibling rivalry and any preferential treatment towards other family members should be avoided, as it can be destructive to the Leo child's sense of self-worth. And please don't scold them in front of others or try to suppress their bubbling enthusiasm.
They enjoy games of challenge with elements of chance and though they can be fast learners, they tend to be lazy about learning. Preferring instead to use their charm and dazzling personalities to win over admirers and teachers.
The teen years may be bumpy as your Leo will be on an emotional roller-coaster. Love relationships (they'll probably notice the opposite sex sooner than other children) and their friendships will be nothing less than dramatic and their social calendar filled as Leos love to go to parties.
Give them enough freedom that they don't feel the need to take it, because they will. Girls will be lady-like and strong-willed and they love nice clothes and being told that they are pretty. The boys will like to play with soldiers and love a good adventure.
They'll probably need more spending money than their siblings but they'll be generous to a fault so be sure to teach them how to give, spend and save. Leo children enjoy household responsibilities but not menial tasks like taking out the garbage or doing the dishes. They want to feel a sense of authority so give them the chores with responsibility to match.
